2013 Honda CR-Z Gets Power Bump, but Small One

Bringing both fuel economy and sporty(ish) driving dynamics to the Honda booth, the refreshed 2013 Honda CR-Z is on display today at the Paris Motor Show.

Honda’s two-seat hackback hybrid gets a revised grille, and a host of other exterior tweaks over the 2012 model. Those include new side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, lots of new lighting including a smattering of LEDs and fog lamps.

It also gets a slight boost in power, moving up 12 hp for a total 134 and the amount of torque for 140 lb-ft when translated through a six-speed manual. Opting for the CVT dampens that slightly, dropping one horsepower and dipping to 127 lb-ft of torque.

The “S+” button is another new feature for the 2013 model year. It allows the car’s hybrid drivetrain to add a little more power while sacrificing some of its fuel economy.

Ditching a sliver of the car’s mpg rating won’t be such a big deal, though, considering the 2012 model with a manual managed 31/37 mpg in the city and on the highway respectively.
